Informational Meeting about Proposed MBTA Service Cuts

Mayor Scott D. Galvin and State Rep. James Dwyer will co-host an informational public meeting to discuss fare hikes and cuts in service proposed by the Massachusetts Bay Transit Authority (MBTA) on Thursday, January 19, 2012, at 7 p.m. in the City Council Chambers at Woburn City Hall.

Woburn Library Building Committee

There will be a Woburn Library Building Committee meeting, June 29th at 4:00 PM.  This meeting will be taking place at Woburn City Hall (10 Common St) in the Engineers Conference Room.  This meeting is open to the public.  Please contact the engineering department (781.897.5880) if you have any questions.

Congressman Markey to Hold Office Hours at Woburn City Hall

Markey has announced that he will hold office hours Thursday February 18th, from 7 to 9pm at Woburn City Hall.  This is an opportunity for residents of Woburn to talk to Congressman Markey about any issue.  Markey's staff will also be on hand to help people with any issues relating to a federal agency.  No appointment is necessary.

Congressman Markey has served our district for over thirty years.  He currently chairs the Select Committee on Energy Independence and Global Warming and the Energy and Environment Subcommittee of the Energy and Commerce Committee.

The 15th annual Festival On The Common and Tree Lighting

Christmas TreeThe 15th annual Festival On The Common will be held Saturday Nov. 28, 3 to 7 p.m.

Activities include:

  • Live continuous holiday music performances from the steps of City Hall!

  • Free singing hayrides on horse-drawn wagons

  • Ice sculpting demonstrations

  • Roaming carolers

  • Food courts

Operation: Home Ties "Faces of Remembrances"

Flag RaisingOperation: Home Ties "Faces of Remembrances" will be displayed at Woburn City Hall Rotunda until Friday Nov. 13th.  Gina Johnson of Woburn pays tribute to all the men and women of Massachusetts who served in the military and gave their all-KIA's.  The portraits that Gina does are one of a kind and and are presented to the families as a gesture of support and healing. 

Gina and Peter Mamakos, owner of The Restaurant have joined forces to pay tribute to are fallen heroes making the restaurant home base for her volunteer mission called Operation:Home Ties.  Every Monday night 5:30-9 pm she sets up her easel devoting this time each week to draw these hometown heroes. 

Woburn Zoning Code Updated

woburn city hallThe Woburn Zoning Code has been updated through April 1st, 2009 and posted on the City of Woburn's website. Paper copies of the updated code are on order and will soon be available in the Office of the City Clerk for $15 per copy over the counter. Drive-up Voter Registration at City Hall

woburn votesVoters will have a unique opportunity to prepare for the next election this Saturday when the city of Woburn offers drive-up voter registration at City Hall.  The idea is meant to highlight and get the word out that the last day for voter registration is Wed., October 15.

City officials and volunteers with voter registration cards will be in the parking lot of City Hall, 10 Common St., on Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon to help prospective voters who drive up. Drivers may also park and walk over for assistance.

The drive-in registration is also available for any other Massachusetts Voters as well. Woburn officials will fax the information from out-of-town registrants to the proper community, then follow up by mailing the original information. If you have any questions or concerns about your rights as a voter, check out www.mass-vote.org a statewide, non-partisan agency.
