Did you read incumbent State Representative Jim Dwyer's answer to the Reading Advocate's Question of the Week? (http://www.wickedlocal.com/woburn/news/x790231066/Ask-the-candidates-Que...) If you did, please do not be fooled by his answer. When unopposed and unaccountable, the incumbent supported each and everything he said that he wants to cut.

Sales taxes of 3%, 5% and 6.25% and the lottery have not lessened the burden on the Massachusetts taxpayer. Casinos and racinos will not lighten the taxpayer's loads. For the taxpayer to benefit from casinos and racinos, the state needs to cut unnecessary spending and stop cutting local aid. Until that happens, there will not be any additional revenue for cities and towns.

It's time to end Beacon Hill's spending spree. I will work to lower taxes without cutting local aid and services. Bringing more good jobs to our community is a must. As your State Representative I will dedicate myself to making our neighborhoods better for all.

It is really a shame that the government is not listening to the people. Over two weeks ago, the people of Reading voted in a special election on the issue of the imposed local meals tax. Although the majority of votes were to repeal the meals tax, the sounds of voters fell on deaf ears since the vote had less than a 20 percent overall voter turnout.
