Final Concert This Friday for the 2011 Horn Pond Summer Concert Series

The Horn Pond Summer Concert Series concludes its free concert series this Friday, August 26 with the Jandee Lee Porter Band. This concert will begin at 6:45 p.m., due to the earlier sunset this time of year. It will take place at Horn Pond, along the flat grassy area of Sturgis St., otherwise known as Ice House Park. The Jandee Lee Porter Band is sponsored by McCue Garden Center who will be cooking fresh corn on the cob again this year for the crowd! 2010 Woburn Summer Concert Series Wraps-Up With The Mood Elevators

The Mood ElevatorsThe 2010 Woburn Summer Concert Series concludes this Friday, August 20th, with a free concert featuring The Mood Elevators.  This final concert, sponsored by Stoneham Bank, will take place from 7-9 p.m. at Horn Pond, along the flat grassy area of Sturgis St., otherwise known as Ice House Park.
 
Get "in the Mood" with The Mood Elevators! Three strong solo artists blend in tight vocal harmony to perform a combination of standard and original arrangements that breathe new life into some of the best-loved standards of the Swing Era, putting a fresh face on nostalgia with a fun, upbeat performance style. Our repertoire includes dance-floor favorites from the 1930s and 1940s as well as obscure gems from the early decades of the 20th Century, and we've performed with some of the best musicians in the Boston area. Bring your family, friends and lawn chairs to Ice House Park to enjoy this free concert.  With generous support from local businesses, the Concert Series is free to the public.  If rain is expected, the alternate (indoor) venue will be the gym at the North Suburban YMCA, located at 137 Lexington St. in Woburn.

The Woburn Summer Concert Series is coordinated by Social Capital Inc. (SCI), North Suburban Y, Woburn Residents’ Environmental Network (WREN), and the Woburn Redevelopment Authority.  A special thank you goes out to Tucker Quinn and the Woburn DPW for their logistical assistance.

The McTeggarts Play to a Crowd of Nearly 600

Friday, August 6th - It was perfect night for a concert at Horn Pond, the humidity had lifted and it was cool and breezy enough to keep the bugs at bay.  The Woburn DPW had worked their magic of cleaning the grassy area in front of the stage, known as Ice House Park, and The McTeggarts, a crowd favorite, played their traditional Irish music for two solid hours, without stopping to take a break.  A

Professor Harp - Next in Line to Perform

Professor Harp, otherwise known as Hugh Homes, was born and raised in Boston.  He was a Rock 'n Roll drummer until 1969 when a combination of two things happened; the Boston Blues revival and witnessing a performance by George Allen "Harmonica" Smith.  The combination of these two events turned him into a blues harp player, otherwise known as the harmonica.
