Free Summer Concert Series at Horn Pond

The Concert Series Committee is proud to announce the 2011 Horn Pond Summer Concert Series! The Horn Pond Summer Concert Series is a collection of free concerts designed to promote community spirit organized by SCI, the North Suburban YMCA and WREN (Woburn Residents’ Environmental Network), and sponsored by local businesses. A special thank you goes out to the City of Woburn, Tucker Quinn and the Woburn DPW for providing a stage and helping with other concert logistics.

This year’s concert series will again be held at Ice House Park at Horn Pond. Ice House Park is the name of the flat grassy area that runs along Sturgis Street, to the right of the boat ramp. For your comfort and enjoyment, please remember to bring folding chairs or a blanket and insect repellant.

We have an exciting lineup of bands scheduled this year! All the concerts will be held on a Friday during the summer from 7 to 9 p.m., unless a rain date is needed.

June 24 (June 30)

The McTeggarts sponsored by Sean Coakley and Atlantic Power Cleaning Corporation. The McTeggarts create traditional Irish folk music that makes you want to stand up and join in. The band made up of Jimmy Byrne from Cork and Mike O'Brien from Dublin come together with their dulcet tones and superb musicianship and have become one of the most sought after folk Irish bands in America and abroad.

Beat Soup sponsored by Bill Sullivan of Edward Jones. Beat Soup’s ska-influenced stylings include both instrumental dance pieces and vocal numbers.  Playing originals and covers, the 8-piece dance band from Boston feature a classic sax/trombone/trumpet horn section as well as guitar, keyboard and drums.

Jandee Lee Porter Band sponsored by McCue Garden Center. Jandee Lee Porter is a singer/songwriter born and raised in a small town in the Connecticut River Valley, Jandee Lee Porter has cultivated a love for music. Her deep country roots combined with influences from other genres such as folk, blues, rock and soul are intertwined to create an alternative sound that is none other than her own. 

August 5 (August 12)

Squeezebox Stompers sponsored by Michael de la Maza.  The Squeezebox Stompers play a blend of Roadhouse Roots, Blues, Cajun, and Zydeco music all over New England and the Northeast. The Squeezebox Stompers play acoustically or electrically and are available as a trio, quartet or quintet. They play accordion, keyboards, lap steel, fiddle, mandolin, guitar, bass and drums.

August 19 (August 20)

BeatleTracks, sponsored by Dunkin Donuts of Woburn Center, is a Beatles tribute band that has played for Billerica, Bedford, Brookline, Danvers, Salem NH, Amherst NH, Reading, N. Reading and many others. They really respect the music, and they really enjoy it and when they play it you can see how much fun they have!
