Getting Into The Festive Spirit With Sunday's Holiday House Tour

Holiday House Tour

Once again the city of Woburn enjoyed a festive afternoon at the SCI Woburn Holiday House Tour this Sunday.  Seven homes were featured on this year’s tour, allowing community members the chance to explore the city while getting into the holiday spirit.  As in years past, this event brought varied groups of people together, connecting neighbors and strengthening their ties within the local community.

Many thanks go out to all the wonderful people who made this year’s Holiday House Tour such a success.  We could not have done it without all the committee members, house hosts, sponsors, and volunteers.  As always, if you would like to learn more about how to get involved with next year’s Holiday House Tour, please contact Karen at krice@socialcapitalinc.org

Our hosts were a phenomenal group of people ranging from families to organizations.  The starter homes, the Masonic Hall and the Burdett Mansion, home to the Woburn Historical Society, were welcoming to all who stopped by, inviting people in with live music and gorgeous decorations.  The five private houses on the tour, home to Pastor Keith and Jennifer Anderson, Charles and Kathleen Doherty, Michael and Paula Walsh, Michael and Dottie Koplow, and Steven and Abbey Carbone, were all decked out in their holiday best: lights and candles aglow, wreathed and swathed in greenery, stockings hung, and exuding festive cheer.  Each home was uniquely different, just like their hosts, yet all beautifully decorated in keeping with the merriment of the season.

The many sponsors for this event helped out tremendously through their donations of time, energy, and funds.  Two sponsors, Malvy’s Flowers and Gifts, and McCue Garden Center, donated the decorations for two of the homes.  Our other sponsors, Franson Family Chiropractic, Woburn Police Patrolman’s Union, Window Film Depot, Woburn Police Superior Officer’s Union, Residential Mortgage Services, Inc., and Bill Sullivan, financial advisor for Edward Jones, also played an integral part in the success of the tour.

Our volunteer greeters, many of them SCI AmeriCorps members, were the ones to greet guests at the door and invite them inside.  They provided a welcoming presence to the afternoon’s exploration of homes.  Thanks again to all those who helped make this another successful fundraiser!
