Public Hearing about Spence Farm Rescheduled Yet Again
Mayor Galvin has called a public hearing in the city council chambers to discuss the proposed plan of buying the Spence Farm property to preserve it as a wilderness area. The plan would cost 2.7 million dollars and would purchase a valuable 7.6 acre plot of land.
The meeting will be held on Wednesday, June 9th at 7pm in the City Council Chambers. The meeting has been rescheduled twice in recent weeks, so it is a good idea to check this page and the city website often for the most recent information before making plans.
The deal is part of a larger effort by the city to buy and preserve wilderness areas. This effort includes buying Whispering Hill from Northeastern University for 7 million dollars.
The meeting was originally scheduled for Wednesday, May 26th, and then later scheduled for Thursday, June 3rd.
Also, please see the attached flyer.
The Spence Farm meeting was incorrectly reported earlier on the city website, and later here as scheduled for "Thursday, June 9th." June 9th is actually a Wednesday. That Thursday June 10th there is a different public hearing taking place at city hall. Below you'll find a description of that Thursday meeting:
Ward 6 Alderman Mike Raymond has scheduled a Neighborhood Meeting regarding the proposed zoning change for St. Anthony's property that will be held on Thursday, June 10 at 6:30 p.m. at Woburn City Hall. The purpose of this meeting is to further discuss the sale and disposition of the 6-acre parcel of land adjacent to St. Anthony's Church. Due to economic conditions the Church is requesting an amendment to the original Assisted Living Zoning Overlay that was approved in 2008. Projects under discussion are an Alzheimer unit and residential condominiums. If you have any questions or concerns please contact Alderman Raymond at 781-935-2438 or email at ward6alderman@yahoo.com
