Woburn Water OK for Drinking
You've probably heard by now of the big MWRA water leak that happened yesterday. Initially the boil water order sounded like it included Woburn; Mayor Galvin also sent a phone message out yesterday urging residents to conserve water.
You can now see if you visit the MWRA site (link above) that Woburn is not on the boil water list. SCI board member and Woburn water committee member John Franson offers this explanation (via Facebook). And since I originally wrote the post, got another phone message from Mayor Galvin confirming the water is OK to drink but also that there is a ban on outdoor water use to conserve in light of the MWRA problem.
"Woburn water is fine - the City shut off the MWRA water early Saturday morning. Yes, Woburn has its own wells and utilizes MWRA to meet commercial needs. The message is to not over-use water as there may be a short-term supply crunch, especially Monday morning when more commercial use comes back on demand. Luckily rain is in the forecast for Monday and Tuesday to replenish!"
