Haunted Halloween Happening

Join us as we celebrate Woburn's favorite holiday in the spookiest building around! October 22, from 7 - 11pm, adults will get a chance to dress up in their craziest costumes (optional), play Halloween games, eat, dance, learn their fortune, and even SCREAM in the Library! There will be drawings, balloon prizes, and Silent Auction items. This event will take the place of the Annual Gala and proceeds will go toward the Building Fund. Please pass this information on to neighbors and friends who might be interested in participating.

Library Book Sale

stack of booksThe Woburn Public Library will be hosting a Book Sale on September 30, October 1 and October 2 at the Woburn Public Library, located at 45 Pleasant Street. This is a great way to support the library and fill your book shelves with some great books!

Volunteers Needed For Book Sale at the Woburn Public Library - Great for Y.E.S. Hours!!!

The Woburn Public Library will be holding a book sale September 30 - October 2 and volunteers will be needed for different shifts to help set up for the sale and clean up any unsold books after the sale.

Volunteers are needed Friday 9/30/11 starting at 9:30 am and until 5:00 pm and Sunday, 10/2/11 from 4:00 pm until 7:00pm.

Library Observes 150th Anniversary of the Civil War

A group of Civil War objects from the Library's Museum Collection will be on display on Sunday, May 22 at 2 p.m. in conjunction with the talk by noted Lincoln expert Dr. Thomas R. Turner.

Objects available for viewing, all used by Woburn soldiers, include a cartridge box, a cap box and belt, a canteen, a sash and epaulet.

In addition, for a limited time the Library is exhibiting the flag presented to Company K of the 39th Massachusetts Regiment – also known as the Woburn National Rangers - by the "Ladies of Woburn" on September 2, 1862.

City Council Meeting Monday on Proposed Library Expansion

There will be an important City Council meeting next week to discuss the status of the proposed Library expansion and renovation.  The meeting will be held on Monday, January 10, 7 pm. in Woburn City Hall.  
 
This past spring the Library unveiled plans for expansion—for background visit http://www.woburnpubliclibrary.org/default/library-renovation-and-expans... .  As discussed in the Woburn Daily times article, Mayor Galvin indicated he will not support the project at the proposed cost and was looking for a lower cost option.  There has been a lot of discussion and press about this important issue, and this City Council meeting is the next step in the process.
